Regions

The six regions of Leonida

Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga, each mapped to the part of Florida it draws on.

Vice City

Based on: Miami and Miami Beach

The heart of Leonida. Ocean Beach, the Bayside waterfront and the mural-covered Stockyard district all have obvious real-world twins across Miami and Miami Beach.

Leonida Keys

Based on: The Florida Keys

Jason's home turf. Stilt houses, tiki bars and a very long bridge over very clear water. The Overseas Highway from Key Largo to Key West is the drive the game is quoting.

9 places

Grassrivers

Based on: The Everglades

A river of grass the width of the peninsula. The airboat sequences, the gator in the pool and the endless flat horizon all come from the Everglades and Big Cypress.

Port Gellhorn

Based on: Panama City Beach and the Forgotten Coast

Leonida's rundown Panhandle beach town. Sugar-white sand, spring-break strip and a pier that fans matched to Panama City Beach within hours of the second trailer.

6 places

Ambrosia

Based on: The sugar belt around Lake Okeechobee

Inland farm country in the middle of the state. Ambrosia's sugar refinery and cane fields point squarely at Clewiston and the towns around Lake Okeechobee.

5 places

Mount Kalaga National Park

Based on: North Florida forests and springs

Leonida's wild north. Springs clear enough to see the bottom, hunting cabins and pine flatwoods, drawn from the Ocala National Forest and Florida's spring country.
